In multiple blog entries I've done my best to poke fun and point out the inflated juggernaut that is medical administration. Today, however, I found myself slowly becoming assimilated. Having a conversation with a colleague before a meeting I was asked what would be the appropriate way to deal with a potentially touchy matter. Instead of saying that it could be done "by the book" or "on the side" or "formally vs. informally" I noted to this physician that we could handle the matter "off-line" which around here at least is one of the favorite admin speak phrases. The minute I spoke these words I cringed at myself and got a funny glance back from this doctor at why I should make such a face.
