Arch Collapse Stresses the Plantar Fascia and Posterior Tibial Tendons

Arch collapse which accompanies overpronation and flatfeet places excess stress on the posterior tibial tendon and the plantar fascia. When these structures are overstressed, they develop microtears and become inflamed. Conditions such as posterior tibial tendonitis/ tendon dysfunction and plantar fasciitis can develop.
