Actress Kathy Bates Undergoes Double Mastectomy Following Breast Cancer Diagnosis

Academy Award-winning actress Kathy Bates undergoes double mastectomy after she was recently diagnosed with breast cancer .
Bates told People magazine exclusively that she was diagnosed with breast cancer several weeks ago.
“After much consideration, I underwent a double mastectomy . Luckily, I don’t have to undergo radiation or chemo. My family call me Kat because I always land on my feet and thankfully this is no exception,” the star of NBC law drama “Harry’s Law” said.
Meanwhile, a separate report from the Washington Post says the 64-year old actress successfully went through the procedure and is now recovering.
Bates added that her doctors gave her assurance that she’ll be around for a long time and expressed her eagerness to soon get back to work and do what she loves to do.
In 2003, the actress battled ovarian cancer , a news she kept to herself for years. After undergoing treatment, Bates went public and teamed up with the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance to help increase public awareness about the disease.
