I saw a new study that shows normal weight kids exercise 16 minutes more per day than obese kids. Of course, some people took this to mean that if obese kids exercised just 16 minutes more per day that they would be fit. That's quite a leap of faith.
There could be many reasons for this correlation. The first thing that comes to mind is that normal weight kids will have more stamina than obese kids, and therefore they will last longer in activities. There could also be a connection here between obesity and asthma which would limit the activity of the obese.
Exercise is good, but I doubt 16 more minutes a day will make much of a difference in terms of weight. They should be looking at the kids' diet!
