Will regular Zoysia Grass overtake Emerald Zoysia if seeded into it?

I have an Emerald Zoysia hybrid for my lawn. It cannot take the heat and humidity in Alabama and becomes dormat during the very hot months. Will regular Zoysia seed overtake this grass?
