We've been reading a lot lately about the dearth of honeybees in the country. Until just recently, I've rarely seen one around here. But in the past week I've noticed many more of them. Not nearly as many as the bumble bees and carpenter bees, but in any group of bees in a garden area, I'll easily see 5 or 6 honeybees. Now, it could be that someone has a hive near me (I'm sort of in the country) or maybe there's some other explanation. Anyway, it was heartening to notice them. And if anyone out there knows how to distinguish a honey bee from a mason bee, I'd be happy to find out.
