Festive Centrepieces

Posted by Teresa J.

With the holidays right upon us, centerpieces come to mind for festive tables. In HGTV article “Unusual Centerpieces”, http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/gl_design_decorative/article/0,1785,HGTV_3565_4082709,00.html, Russell Toscano, gardener, has come up with a creative idea. Why not grab those canning jars or empty condiment jars and turn them into vases? Fill it with colourful, artfully cut and arranged fruits and flowers and there you have it. Simple but fun. You can duplicate this centerpiece, running them along a long table without breaking the bank!

These are fun ideas for anytime. They would translate equally well to those summer cookouts or dinner parties through out the year. Thanks for the great link!
I have also taken cute metal coffee cans, wine bottles, old perfume bottles, antique milk bottles, etc., to use for flowers. The key is, if it looks cute to your eye, then try it! Don't wait for a magazine or whatever to tell you what you should like. Sometimes, a whole bouquet looks right or other times, one simple weird little flower has an attraction. Try putting a little fresh flower in your dressing area, for a glamorous resort feel.
