Health knowledge made personal
I'm a clinical social worker in private practice on Long Island. Married, two adult kids, one excessively happy pit bull. I started out as an alcoholism counselor, which means I know a lot about addictions. I trained as a Gestaltist, which means I pay lots of attention to feelings and what they're trying to tell us. And I've studied Buddhism informally long enough to consider my take on things Buddhist-flavored, which means I believe that most emotional problems comes from trying to control things that either can't or shouldn't be controlled. The idea of control is the subject of my blog, Monkeytraps, which I coauthor with my inner monkey, Bert, who is a control addict in recovery. Come visit.
