For ten years we were a family of two. Three if you count our dog. We had a dream. Marriage and children and the whole happy ending. In 2003 we found out that our dream may not come true. First clomid three times. Five IUIs. Four IVFs. Thousands of dollars and many years. And still a family of two. Three if you counted the dog. It was during that emotional roller coaster that I started this blog. An attempt to create an outlet for the pain that infertility had brought to our happy home. Then in 2007, a true miracle. A phone call. The junior bridemaid from our wedding. Pregnant. Would we adopt her little boy? In May of 2008 Isaac John came home to live with us forever. One month before our tenth anniversary. Four days before Mother's Day. A few weeks before my 31st birthday. Now a family of three. Four if you counted the dog. Isaac was just six weeks old when we learned of another miracle. I was eight weeks pregnant. Pregnant with no treatment at all. In January of 2009 Elijah Luke made us a family of four. Five if you count the dog. I don't know where this blog will go next. Back for frozen embryos at Mayo Clinic eventually. Maybe more adoptions. Maybe we'll be as we are now. Either way, you can follow us from the freezing cold Minnesota tundra to the warm waters of the gulf and to who knows where next right here. A family of four. And the dog.
