... if I'm still alive, if I've given up, if I'm secretly succeeding beyond my wildest dreams!
The answer to number one is yes, numbers two and three - no.
As to where I've been... well, saying it's been busy here is an understatement. That I've been moving around a bit is an understatement as well!
My husband is getting his knee replaced tomorrow. As things have gone downhill for him, I've been taking over a lot of the "heavy lifting" of keeping our house going. That includes all yard work. He had this old, old gas lawnmower that I couldn't start if my life depended on it. He must have some secret he's not telling me because he can start it - I can't. I realized that he was going to be out of commission for quite some time in the yardwork department, so I bought myself a nice little electric mower - that starts at the push of a button. At the moment, that's the only easy thing about it though! We've had temperatures over 100 with high humidity for most of July and August appears to be following suit. I can make about 6 passes before I have to sit down and drink copious amounts of water. I swear I should be at least a size smaller with all the sweat that's come off of me!
I've also taken over pool duty, vaccuuming the bottom of the pool on a daily basis. Done daily, it takes about 20 minutes, so it's not a bad job. A bit repetitive though, which is good for the arms. Water resistance and slow motion makes it a fair workout (and a lot cooler than mowing!!!).
In preparation for my husband's convalescence, I've rearranged the house. Cleaned the carpets downstairs after moving all the furniture out of the family room, then moving a bed downstairs so he can be close to the kitchen and life until he can go up and down the stairs regularly. That should be about two weeks, I think.
To say that I am sore and achy is an understatement. At the end of the day, my legs are screaming as I make the final climb upstairs to bed, and my arms ache whenever I lift them up above elbow height.
It might not be a formal workout, but I've been busy working this body everyday. Haven't climbed on the scale yet and may not find time to do so in the next week (gotta find it first), but I'm pretty sure some progress is happening. Not a lot, but some!
