Weekend Update! A different kind of PR

Posted Jan 09 2012 2:29pm

This weekend I had the honor of hosting my BFF and her family.  A is my favorite  PreggoMamaRunner .  She is 6 months pregnant with her 2nd baby and has set a goal for herself to qualify for the 2013 New York City Marathon by participating in NYRR 9+1 program .

This weekend was the first of her 9 races.  The Joe Kleinerman 10K Classic.  A told me before the race that she was thinking of power walking, as she was having some trouble keeping her heart rate down while running.  Oh Yeah!  I love me some powerwalking.  In 2010 I qualified for the 2011 NYCM while I was pregnant with the G’s and RB  stuck by my side, slow running, walk/running, powerwalking, waddling … through all 9 races.  I am eternally grateful for her.  I will be doing the same for A.  NYRR races can get really crowded and if you are pregnant I suggest having someone by your side to act as a body guard!

that was about 1/2 the racers!

It was a beautiful morning, a beautiful race and I couldn’t think of a better way to spend 10K than catching up with my BFF.

1/9 PreggoMamaRunner Race

1 down, 8 to go!

The rest of the weekend was spent chasing after the 3 kids.  The G’s and Q (who is 2).  The 3 of them were so cute together, especially G2 and Q who had some male bonding time over matching footie PJ’s.

We also took G1 to get her ears pierced.  Which, I wont lie … was traumatic.  I was excited to do it, since she is obsessed with jewelry, but as I saw my screaming daughter have her arms held down I almost aborted the mission.  Thankfully the screaming eventually subsided and she used her sympathy to select the nearest shiny bracelet and shout “dada, thaaaat!”.  I think VC would have bought her a pony at that moment.

Before ... "Um Mom, this is weird."

After ... all smiles and bling

Hope you all had a great weekend!  Any fun plans this week?
