Streak Me #RWRunStreak

Posted May 30 2012 12:28pm

I’m jumping, scratch that … I’m gleefully leaping onto the Runner’s World Summer Run Streak 2012 bandwagon.

This is right up my alley.

RW says that they started this streak to bridge the gap between spring races and fall training … and they are right on.  Marathon training is not in full swing and while I am following a plan, I am less than motivated to stick exactly to it.  I am finding myself too far away from my goal race to really push myself.  Enter the streak.  I welcome you, Streak.  Lets party.

I don’t currently run every single day … in fact I have never done a run streak of longer than 7 days.  38 days of running at least a mile Every. Single. Day is a new challenge for me.  In all honesty, its a huge challenge and I know there will be days when I am just craving a rest from running.  I read this amazing post on Another Mother Runner today and realize that those days are the Character Building Workouts.  The workouts that you love to hate but always remember the most.

Lets build some character over the next 38 days … you in?

Details are:

Run at least one mile per day, every day, starting on Memorial Day (Monday, 5/28) and ending on Independence Day (Wednesday, 7/4). That’s 38 consecutive days of running.

Check out the FAQ’s on the RW site.

Lets see how it goes!  I’ll check in at the end of the week with my progress but here is my fitness game plan for the week:

  • Monday (Memorial Day) Figure 4.  Have to fit in a mile or so today – done. ran 2.5 miles to and from Figure 4
  • Tuesday – 50 Minutes at MP+20 – done but not at the right speed, it was too hot!
  • Wednesday – 70 Minutes with 1 minute Pick Up every 10 Minutes, plus Lululemon Run club
  • Thursday – 40 MInutes Easy + Figure 4
  • Friday – Spin.  Fit in a run somehow
  • Saturday – 90 Minutes. Last 4 miles at MP + 20sec
  • Sunday – 45 minutes easy run

Now, who wants to come up with a great way to reward ourselves on July 4th?
