Six Pack Abs After Kids

Posted Apr 13 2011 1:11pm

To Sara of Fit by Sara:
“I’ve never had a flat stomach and I now have two kids. Is there any possibility that I can ever obtain six pack abs?”

All of our bodies are genetically different. Some of us have large bones, some of us have small bones, some of us are tall, and some of us are small. Many women genetically have a small pouch of body fat around the lower abdominal area. Those that are genetically endowed with a pouch may not fully lose it unless their body fat gets extremely low, and in some cases this would be unhealthy. I personally feel that we can all obtain our best self. We can become lean, strong, toned, with a healthy diet and exercise. Six pack abs aren’t necessary to have a beautiful, healthy body, the most important thing is that we feel good in the body we’re in. -Sara Holliday MFT, CPT
