Race Prep and Expo – Nike Women’s Marathon SF

Posted Oct 14 2012 1:18am

San Francisco is erupting … there is a sea of Tiffany Blue inspired women covering the city.

I arrived here yesterday afternoon, however my favorite running mama Addie  didn’t get in until late last night … and I just couldn’t go to the Expo-tique without her!  So this morning we woke up, caffeinated ourselves and jetted over to the Expo-tique at 8:30am.  Whoa, I had no idea what I was getting myself into.

This is not your typical race expo.  There are velvet ropes, hydration lounges, styling appointments, photo booths and DJ’s.  Its straight up lady runner madness … I wish I had more pics to show you the craziness but I was super overwhelmed and did an awful job of photog-ing.

NWM Expo-tique fun

Favorite stop of the booth was the Nike Winter Running stylists. 3 lovely ladies took me under their wing and dressed me up in the cutest winter running clothes.  THEN they dragged me up onto stage to model the look for the whole expo.  Oh man, I get really nervous on stages.  But it was hilarious and I’m in love with this down hooded vest.

Sometimes you just end up on stage … C’est la Vie!

Our final stop was NikeTown, where we hoped to get our hands on the special Tiffany Blue lunar glides, but had low expectations because we had been told that in order to buy them we would have to stand in line for a wristband at 6:30am … miraculously there was a NikeTown elf who had a stack of shoes in the back corner and we were able to easily attain them.  A Tiffany Blue christmas miracle.

So pretty. So shiny.

Once we had our shoes, we hightailed it out of there to enjoy a day around San Francisco.  We ran our way around the city, stopping for lots of photo ops and of course for chocolates at Ghiradelli Square. MMM.

Dinner was with the Fitfluential people … HI everyone :)

Top to bottom:

Meg , Lindsay , Me, Kristen

Alexandra , Rachel , Tiffany , Janene , Melissa , Kelly , Brian

And finally we’re back at our hotel collapsed in bed.  Its unlikely I’ll get much sleep, the excitement of this race has me buzzing a bit.  7am cannot come soon enough … see you tomorrow with race details!

#INSPIREFORWOMEN go team Yurbuds!
