Postpartum Weight Loss- Help to Stop Snacking from Stress

To Sara of Fit by Sara: “Today I was so stressed that I found myself craving junk. I ate a whole small bag of chips, 3 chocolate chip cookies, 2 small brownies and a normal dinner. I’m feeling horrible. Do you have any tips to help me stop snacking from stress?”

The good thing is you are aware that you are snacking due to stress. One of the best things you can do to prevent snack eating due to stress is to remove yourself from it. As soon as you get a craving have a glass of water, and go outside. Take 5 deep breaths and go for a short walk if you can. If you have junk food at home, put it on a high shelf so you have to get it if you REALLY want it. In my opinion, there’s nothing wrong with eating sweets as long as you can do so in moderation. When you do eat it, you should be very conscious of each flavor and texture and savor it. -Sara Holliday MFT, CPT
