To Sara of Fit by Sara: “I really want to lose weight. I’m disgusted by how much I’ve gained. All I’ve been eating the last couple of weeks is protien bars and few handfulls of chips. I hardly eat anything and can’t lose weight. I’m desparate…what should I do?”
From Fit by Sara: “Your body is going into deprivation mode. Since your starving it, you’re holding onto body fat and weight. Because you’re not eating enough you are craving high fat, high calorie foods such as chips which have no nutritional value. Also protien bars are very high in protien and should be eaten at most once a day. Too much protien is not good for the body and can lead to other complications such as “ketones”. According to the University of Iowa Health Care, “Ketones are strong acids and are harmful to your body”.
I recommend that you read my previous post about learning your body’s hunger cues to lose weight: http://www.fitbysarablog.com/?p=756 . It’s really important that you nourish your body with healthy foods. Learning to listen to your body, along with eating healthy and exercise is the best weight loss solution. Pills and fad diets may temporarily work, but in addition to feeling awful from dieitng, the results won’t last. ” -Sara Holliday MFT, CPT
