To Sara of Fit by Sara: “I’m a stay at home single mom of a 2 year old boy. I can’t figure out a time to workout. Do you have any tips?”
Since your with your child all day long, a great way to get in your workout is to workout withhim. Pushing him in a stroller up (and down) hills will get your heart rate up, plus tone your thighs and hips. Bring along fun snacks and toys (like mini cars & books) to keep him entertained. For added fun end at a park so he can play. I highly recommend making your stroller workout a daily morning or mid-afternoon routine. Kids love routines and quickly get used to them so if you start to slack off he’ll remind you. You can find relatively inexpensive jogging stroller online. Look for one with a swivel wheel in the front and a movable sun shade. -Sara Holliday MFT, CPT (Me with my son who was 2 at the time)
