Postpartum Weight Loss: Fitting in Exercise With Bad Weather

To Sara of Fit by Sara: I just started getting into a regular exercise routine of daily walking for 40 min., and I was actually enjoying it. Unfortunately the weather has turned bad- snow, then rain, and cold!! Any suggestions to keep up my routine.

It’s too bad that the weather turned bad and put a damper on exercise that you enjoyed doing. I recommend a few things- 1. Try something new and interesting like a Zumba class, dance class, yoga class, or toning class. Look up a fun exercise class at a local gym or studio. 2. Rent a exercise dvd. There are all kinds of exercise dvd’s to choose from. If you want to try one out before purchasing look into Netflix, otherwise you can read reviews and purchase on 3. Dress for the weather. If you really enjoy walking you can still do it if you bundle up. You can break up your 40 min. routine into two 20 min. workouts. Most importantly keep moving. Exercise will boost your mood, improve your cardiovascular health, bone health, and metabolism so you look good and feel great. -Sara Holliday MFT, CPT
