Nervous is in the building

Posted Aug 26 2011 7:21am

It has been about 2 years since my last truly long marathon training run.  I classify a truly long marathon training run as 15+ miles.  Why?  Because why on earth would you run over 15 miles unless you are marathon training.  Under 15 you may run during training for a half marathon, but over 15 … marathons only.

In that 2 years I ran the 2009 NYC marathon and immediately after started the process of having the twins.  I  went through fertility treatments, became pregnant, endured a high risk twin pregnancy, had an emergency c-section, nursed 2 babies for 7 months, have sustained on the least amount of sleep humanly possible, and became a busy twinnie mom.

I’d say that the body I am working with now is nothing like the one I last ran a long run with :)  I love this body and am so proud of all that it has been through but wow …

I’M SUPER NERVOUS!!

That's my attempt at a nervous face ... I'm not a good actress. Sorry about that!

I feel prepared, I’ve run well up to this point in training.  I did yoga yesterday.  I had a low mileage week last week so my legs are rested.  I ate all of my favorite pre run foods and my stomach feels happy,  I have a route planned and awesome friends to run with … however I slept last night like I would the night before a final exam that I didn’t study for!!!

So here I go – off to prove to myself that I can do this … that I can go from twins to 26.2

The good news?  These 2 are the best motivation EVER :)

Banana stealers!

Stay tuned, and cross your fingers!!
