Recently, my children and I had the opportunity to go to Subway and try out their new breakfast sandwiches!
Now, you all know I’m on the Zone diet and I bet you were wondering what could I eat at Subway since the majority of the meals are bread based….So, I was excited to see and hear that they have egg white breakfast sandwiches- I ordered the Western egg white and cheese on flat bread and added avocado.
If you look at Subway’s nutritional menu (before you go), you’d find that the Egg White Muffin Melt or the Western Egg and Cheese Egg White Sandwhiches are pretty good choices- either eat an apple with the Muffin Melt or eat only half the bread with the Western Egg and Cheese. My zone requirements are 21 grams protein, 27 grams of carbs and 7 grams of fat and obviously the carbohydrates will change depending on the type of bread! Now, I didn’t, but, I should have had them add a big helping of peppers! If given a choice and time is not an issue, I’d prefer to make and cook my egg white omelet with peppers and avocado at home…but, if time and/or opportunity allowed it, I would be fine eating at Subway (now that I know what to order) and also because my kids love it!
