I think I have a post-Valentine’s Day chocolate hangover. Between the Hershey’s kisses and the incredible chocolate mousse cake Dr. G. brought home, I totally indulged on massive amounts of chocolatey goodness yesterday, and it was heavenly.
But now it’s February 15. Back to reality.
I still love my chocolate, though, so I was excited to recently try s new protein bars, which are hitting store shelves this month and come in two candy-like flavors: Coconut Almond and Caramel Nut.
First, let me say that I am a huge fan of their oats and chocolate chewy bars. It’s like eating candy. So I had a feeling I was going to enjoy these.
You know what? These are better. And they have 6 or 7 grams of protein per bar for 140 calories or less and they provide 20 percent of your daily value of fiber. Sign me up.
And I swear, they taste like candy bars. Mounds and Snickers, to be exact. Yet because of the protein, they keep you feeling fuller longer. I love protein bars around 4:30pm when I’m leaving work but need something to hold me over until we eat dinner, which usually isn’t until 6:30pm or so.
So if you are waking up and feeling a little guilty about overdoing it yesterday, or if you simply want a healthier candy bar alternative, then definitely check these out. They come in boxes of five and cost about $4.19, depending on the store.
