Week 5 of Chicago Marathon Training leaves me with 3 very obvious feelings:
1. Running with Friends is a magical thing. One that makes miles disappear into thin air as though they never happened
2. A good massage is a marathon trainer’s best friend
3. I need to do some focusing on my abs. Figure 4 left me AB-solutely sore (see what I did there?!) and I know my body well enough to know that weak abs = hip pain = knee pain = nothing good. Plank City: here I come!
Monday – Back to Figure 4. Figure 4 FIT with Ashleigh Chilton. Man it hurts so good to be back …
Tuesday – Two for Tuesdays
Run # 1 – Lululemon Run Club on the Strawberry Fields hill w/G1 in the jogger (4.12 Miles)
Run # 2 – 3 miles of torture.
* 2 for Tuesdays are so very hard for me, that second run takes every ounce of mental strength I have, but it feels so good when its done!
Wednesday - Chicago Marathon Speed Workout # 5
15 Min warm up
1 Mile @ 5k pace (2 min slow jog)
2 x 800m @ 5K pace (2 min slow jog between)
4 x 400m @ 5k pace (2 min slow jog between)
10 Min cool down
repeats done from 7:18-7:01
In all honesty I have no idea what my 5k pace is. I have never raced a 5k so I can only speculate. My legs were not going sub 7 min miles today so I pushed as hard as I could and gave 90% effort, which is what I would equate to 5k pace.
Thursday – Morning run with RB
Went out for a 45 minute run and ended up running almost 8 miles because I got caught up in conversation.
Friday – Easy 30 mins + Figure 4
Saturday – Soul Cycle Survivors class w/ Michael Vera + a day resting my legs in the pool while these 2 waded around …
