Lyrica- Friend or Foe

Recently the FDA has approved the drug Lyrica for use in treatment of Fibromyalgia. Though we have known that fibromyaliga is a true and existing condition main stream is just catching up!

Lyrica has some side effects that were basically mild-but however did have some more moderate reactions in patients in the trial a few patients did stop treatment during the trial due to side effects.

Some common ones were:

• Dry mouth
• sleepiness- so plan ahead!
• dizziness
• blurry vision
• and possible weight gain

The decision to take Lyrica is total up to you and should be thoroughly discussed by your doctor. Making sure you are comfortable with the medication and listing all current medications prescription and Over the counter is wise before starting this drug or any other.

Lyric is also used in the treatment of Nerve Pain associated with Diabetes and Shingles. Further research is suggested to help make you comfortable with deciding to take this medication!
