Fibromyalgia and Pain

Posted Sep 11 2008 5:05pm 5 Comments

We all know that with fibromyalgia there is going to be pain but no one truly knows how bad it is like others who have it. Fibromyalgia enhances every pain you feel no matter how small it may seem.

This morning I had and accident and feel landing on my ankle. With the average person a fall like that might hurt them severly, however due to my fibromyalgia the pain seems a hundred times greater! The doctor sent me home with some Tylenol and told me I had to stay off it for 3-6 weeks …when are we going to get a doctor that understands our condition like we do?

Maybe I can go to school and become one…..not practical…though it would be nice!

This is nothing compared to…giving birth with fibromyalgia! Thats a horse ofa different color. Anyway I thought that a few tips to console the accident prone….sufferer would be nice.

Pain Management tips:

1. listen to soothing music …this helps a little when I need to take my mind off the pain!

2. Find an activity to draw your attention away from the pain …sometimes when we are in pain it helps to distract ourselves by doing the things we love.

3. rest …if you are inbetween doses of medication, trying to get some sleep might help for an hour or too…if you can’t sleep watching a good movie helps me.

4. laugh …laughing releases hormones in the blood that can give you a sensation of …being high on life!

Talking with others like you often gives us some bit of relief…my mother once told me… ” No matter how bad you feel…remember there is always someone suffering more then you.” I first thought this was sad but now I understand the postitive in it….maybe you will too!

Remember to keep smiling…

Until next time!

Smiles,

Lisa

Got Pain but it does not show on CT Scan or MRI? Its NOT all in your head!

This test will assist those and their physicians get a diagnosis and helps those that need a written diagnosis to SPECIFICALLY what is wrong

I tried Thermography and it gave the doc a more direct route to diagnosing my previously undiagnosed RSD. I was told it was arthritis for years!

Thermography is

Digital infrared thermal imaging is a totally non-invasive clinical imaging procedure for detecting and monitoring a number of diseases and physical injuries, by showing the thermal abnormalities present in the body.

It is used as an aid for diagnosis and prognosis, as well as monitoring therapy progress

Unlike most diagnostic tests, D.I.T.I. is non invasive and there are no risks or side effects.

Using the latest digital technology, images, or ’thermograms’, - taken using an infrared camera. These images can assess the whole body or just areas of particular concern.

Excellent for those seeking OTHER LOW COST diagnostic tools for Breast Cancer and Mammogram Screening.

Excellent for Pain Detection, RSD / Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, Sciatica, Pre and Post Surgical Monitoring

Thermography Has been approved by the FDA for over 25 years! Read more at

Dear Dareen, What drugs have you tried? For me, after trying most of the lower tier drugs (NSAIDS, Ultram) I find that a low dose of methodone plus a low dose of baclofen (muscle relaxant) work well together although it makes me a little tired. Keep trying different drugs. Cymbalta for me made me so dizzy, though its effect was interesting on my stiffness/pain.

I am a caregiver for my daughter having fibro.  She has found that Tylenol #3 works best for her.  She doesn't want to be a test subject for Cymbalta, Lyrica or other drugs recently touted for fibromyalgia.  Also, keeping active as possible...even though difficult has helped her, when she feels up to it!
