It's been about a week since I last posted, I don't exactly know why. There have been a lot of things going on and I of course have my roller-coaster health to deal with. Let's see what I can catch you up on.
I've got lots of crafting going on. I have been preparing materials for quilts, 3 quilts that I will make using focus squares with hand prints made by the Kindergarten class. These quilts will be four-patch quilts using the school colors.
The 8th grade class will also make one quilt for which they will decorate the focus squares. Their focus squares will be larger and I will use sashing instead of four-patch squares.
I am working on finishing the binding on another quilt that is complete. For this quilt I am sewing the binding on by hand, so I've been working on it while watching TV. There is no urgency to finish this quilt.
I still have Mr. Bubba's basketweave scarf to finish. It's about 60% finished.
I have started one scarf for the Special Olympics scarf project. The Special Olympics is requesting scarves to give to the Special Olympics athletes for their winter games. I am crocheting this scarf to give my hands a different activity than knitting.
My desk is a complete mess again, I don't understand how it happens. I clear off my desk, get everything put away and then things just end up all over the top of my desk again.
I had to take my van - Big Bertha - to the dealer. Our mechanic told us at the last service that we had oil leaking and the water pump could be leaking as well. We dropped Big Bertha off last Thursday, a couple of hundred miles after the factory warranty expired. We purchased the extended warranty so figured we'd have no problem. Friday I got a phone call from our "Service Specialist" and was told the extended warranty people wanted to inspect Big Bertha before they approved the repairs. The head gasket is leaking, the water pump is leaking and the rack and pinion (steering) is leaking. Estimate = $2500. I was prepared for a fight, expecting the warranty company to deny the repairs. Today, I got a call... the repairs were approved and I should have my car before the end of the week.
This is going to be a busy week including:
- a meeting with a community-based organization that provides services to pregnant women, they are looking for doulas willing to offer services to their clients
- an acupuncture appointment
- a two-hour session working on quilt squares with the 8th grade class
- a pizza social with the Kindergarten class parents
- a Parent Teacher Group meeting
- picking up Big Bertha at some point
These are just the activities that are not part of the routine weekly schedule. There are also the routine activities.
I like being busy though, so I'm not complaining. Just stopping to notice what I've got going on.
I think I'll work on clearing my desk before I go to bed.
