Back to School Giveaway #3 – the HEV project review and giveaway
Posted Aug 15 2012 9:35am
I have an awesome giveaway for you today. Claudia and John Orgill contacted me about their new site called The Hev Project . It is a wonderful homeschool site that provides a large selection of short videos for your children to learn from and use themselves. Some times homeschool parents just need a little break from teaching and some kids love to learn independently so this is a great site for everyone.
The videos teach student’s (ages 6 and up) important concepts and principles in a way that will allow them to digest and master each concept and principle bit by bit. The subjects covered are many. The videos are sorted into a master list for the learner and includes the following: Creating Women, Creating Men, Courses, Love of Country, Gifts and Talents, Making a Difference, Book Reviews, Monthly Contests, Debate Forum, Writing Critiques, and Spiritual Thoughts. Right now there are over 300 videos and counting. The HEV Project is adding videos all the time. Each video is taught by a teacher that loves the subject and “edifies the students heart, soul, and mind”.
The site is family friendly and safe! You will be comfortable having your child visit on their own or with you. Also on top of having great videos for your kids there are screens off, hands on activites they can do after they watch the video. I am so implementing this site into our homeschool this year. It will work great for my ten year old who doesn’t always like mama to do school work with her and there are so many interest led subjects that we like to learn.
And parents don’t feel left out. There aren’t just videos for your kids to glean from. There is also a parent area that has homeschool resources for you!
Just read the Orgill’s mission and you will see how wonderful this company is -
Our primary goal is to pass knowledge skill and wisdom from one generation to the next. We are doing this through online videos that can be seen as ‘recorded mentors’ that can be watched and replayed at the discretion of the learner.
This educational content is designed to be supportive to the christian homeschool environment, build character in learners, and ease the burden parents sometimes feel when trying to find and teach the basics to their children (like grammar and math).
Our secondary goal is to inspire learners to reach out and work harder by presenting them with profiles of other homeschool learners that are working hard to achieve great things.
And finally, we want to help parents feel confident in their decision to homeschool. We do this by providing profile videos of parents that homeschool and adults that were homeschooled.
I absolutely love The HEV Project . Media has such an effect on our kids and as parents we need to know what are kids are watching. There are so may videos on youtube and other sites and you just can’t count on them to be safe and Christian like for your kids evn if you check the youtube safe mode. I am so glad that the Orgills decided to start this site . I don’t have to rent or purchase videos from anywhere. I don’t have to spend the time going thru videos to see if they are okay for my kids but I can count on the Orgills helping me to give my kids safe videos to watch. My kids can learn from these videos whether it is during school or any time during our day.
Right now there are a couple of awesome specials for you. Everyone can go to The HEV Project and request a one week free trial ….
