Younger couples embrace boxing

Posted by Nancy B.

Co-ed boxing has been slow gaining ground, but gyms and health clubs in California, New York, Minnesota, and Texas are reporting a modest growth of women in the ring, according to The New York Times. Younger couples are embracing the workouts, which let women unleash punches and jabs while rules dictate men hold back or don’t punch at all. Men also get a workout by dodging and defending. The workout also serves as a kind of therapy because it empowers women and leaves men respecting the women more after they’ve used physical aggression instead of angry words, said Sarah Brokaw, a Manhattan couples therapist and boxer, in the interview.
