Do you need a drill sergeant to get you moving? Happy Monday, guys! Hope you had a good weekend. The weather in New York has been splendid for the last couple of days. I took advantage Saturday by walking around the City with a dear friend. We woke up a bit early in order to catch an ultimate conditioning class at my beloved Crunch . It was great, and my muscles are super-sore, just the way I like them to be. The only thing that kinda bugged me was that the instructor was pretty mean. I mean mean. Maybe she was having a bad day--I have never had that happen to me before at Crunch. She got sassy a couple of times with a woman who unknowingly walked into class and took her spot, front and center. And she kept on focusing on these two women in the front of the room who were more advanced than the rest of the class. “Not everyone can be a rockstar,” she kept on saying, to the rest of us who had to use modified moves. I did once try the Warrior Fitness Bootcam p in Midtown Manhattan. The instructors, former Marines, were real drill sergeants, but they made me feel like a champ, not a chump for enduring their workout! (And believe me, it was a hard workout--I almost threw up afterwards...) Ugh. Having spent six months training with Taj , who is my big sister--AKA the cheerleader who knows when you need a healthy dose of tough love -– I didn't appreciate the meanie approach. I’ll take warm and encouraging any day! But what can I say? I still got a great workout. I might not have done as many dumbbell flies if I hadn’t been afraid of the instructor! How about you? What teaching style is most effective for you? Photo: http://www.flickr.com/photos/treydanger/ / CC BY 2.0
