What Does Your Workout Wear Look Like?

Posted by Angie Schumacher Healthy Living ProfessionalHealth Maven

What you wear says a lot about how you feel about your self and your body. It also sets your “mindset” for how your workout will go. Looking and feeling good in your workout wear will make you feel good about who you are and what goals you are going to achieve.

Wearing clothing that allows you to view your body and SEE those parts that are starting to become more defined, will make you want to work that much harder! Allow yourself to feel confident and sexy in your workout wear! I am not saying you have to be wearing tight, skin bareing clothes, but something that allows YOU to feel amazing! Big, baggy t-shirts and your husbands sweat pants, just won’t cut it!

Here is my workout gear:

old navy tank

I love the layered, Old Navy tanks. They are so comfortable and I like how they are longer than normal tanks. No tummy hanging out with these! I don’t like to have my arms covered when I am working out, so these are perfect, plus I get so see my muscles in action when working my upper body! Most of the time, you can get them for $6-$8 at Old Navy.

These are Champion Bootcut Pants. I like how they fit my lower body and how they “hold” it all together! They actually fit me in the length too, which for my 5′3 size, is very hard to find! These run for $19.99 at Target.

So what does your workout wear look like? Does it make you feel sexy and confident in reaching your goals?

I think those are the same pants I have and love 'em! The way they look and feel make feel good about my body. When I go rock climbing, I usually wear a loose t-shirt because the harness sits right on my wait line and as I climb, my shirt rises, so a small tank top won't work.

I agree, you should feel good in your workout wear. Who wants to workout when you look and feel frumpy?

Those pants are comfy looking. Where do you get them and are they expensive? I really don't like to spend more than $20 on workout pants. They just get totally worn out from wear and washing (or mine do!)

I like to wear yoga pants so that I'm not tripping on my clothes or pulling at them all the time, trying to get them to stay in place. I also like a fitted tee, in a material that isn't too heavy, for kickboxing, and pretty yoga tees or long-sleeve tops for yoga.

You are both so right, Larisa and Angie, looking great only motivates you. I don't want to work out feeling like a schlump in too large clothing, tripping on baggy pants, and pulling at too big sleeves!

Target for $20 is where I found them! The are my favorite pair! I have to wear black pants for work too..(personal training) and these work great as well!
I went to Dick's Sporting Goods this weekend and purchased some Nike sleeveless 'dry fit' tanks. They are longer than normal but are also a little form fitting and they have several different colors.

I choose Nike over most other brands for its durability.  I train so intensely that I do several changes a day and wash those clothes very frequently. The Nike Dry-fit fabric is found in best pants and sports bras which retain their shape vs stretching out, shrinking or thinning which I have found problematic with most other brands. Lululemon makes very fashionable clothes but the Luon fabric is not as durable as Nike Dry-fit. Previous Lululemon pants have shrunk in length and pilled in areas of high contact - knees, butt, etc. However, they make great gymbags and jackets!
