What are some good exercises you can do at home?

Posted by Marissa A.

I've been finding myself too busy to go to the gym, and too cold to go outside. I'd like to at least do SOMETHING at home to keep me in shape.

I get stuck in the winter rut too...you're not alone! The advice may sound trite, but while it's cold and you're stuck indoors something is better than nothing. If I really feel unmotivated I get started by dancing around the house to my favorite fun songs. Even if you don't work as hard as you might on a treadmill, you at least get your heart pumping and you can enjoy yourself! If you're doing work or watching TV, try doing some yoga stretches, abs, or push-ups on commercial breaks or while you watch. I try to at least stretch when I have a lot of work, because sitting really takes its toll on the body! While it may seem that there is no time, another rut I also get caught in, if you think about spending a mere 30 minutes a day getting your body moving in some way...it's not so bad, no? You can also do two 15-minute increments in a day if the 30-minute period sounds too daunting. Set up a walking errand after a meal, which encourages healthy digestion. Whatever gets you active will help.
