Wellternatives, eat out better to lose weight and stay healthy!

Wellternatives is a cool new site I joined that works for you to find healthy alternatives to your favourite restaurant meals. The people at Wellternatives believe you should always have the nutritional information of restaurant food at your fingertips to enable you to make healthy choices! I think this is a great idea and love to see someone taking action on this important issue. The fact is, all the food we buy at stores has nutritional information, so why not the food we buy at restaurants?



To use Wellternatives, simple type in the restaurant name (major chains) and then type in the menu selection. Example, McDonalds Big Mac. This revolutionary website instantly shows you the nutritional information of the selection (540 calories, 29 g of fat, 45 g of carbs and 3 g of fiber in this case). Why it doesn't show the protein, which I know my weight training readers want to hear, I don't know.



The really cool part, is that it also gives you an example of a healhier alternative that is similar. In this case the Double Cheeseburger (440 calories, 23 g fat, 34 g carbs, 2 g of fiber). Pretty cool if you ask me! This is a great tool to use on your mobile phone internet connection when you are standing in front of the menu scanning it like Data on Star Trek Next Generation!



Exercise is important but you have to eat well or you will probably always have some extra bacon on your burger!
