It's pouring out, so to save our little plants I had to drag them inside :) We've got lemon basil, jalapenos and sweet basil on the countertop and flowers in the breakfast area. It feels like a jungle, but was very convenient to have the basil right there to cook dinner.
Today I chilled by the pool and readSon of a Witch. It's been kind of hard for me to get into- has anyone else read it? I lovedWicked(and all of his other novels) but this one has been a little slow.
Snack:

Half of the last figgy bar :(
For lunch, I made a PB Banana smoothie. 1 cup fat free organic milk, small banana, tbs pb, 1/2 scoop vanilla protein powder, 1/2 cup ice, Splenda and cinnamon. Delicioso (yes I talk like Dora the Explorer and randomly throw in Spanish words sometimes. I get it from my cute nana!)... and perfect for a blazing hot day.

After lunch, I had my interview and stopped by the mall. I picked up two cookbooks (I'm addicted!): Ethnic Foods (it has the recipe forIndian Chile Chicken. Oh yes) and a Rachael Ray (she's my favorite).
By that time, I needed to head to spin class and snacked on my favorite bar ever while I was driving:Pure Protein Peanut Butter Marshmallow Eclipse. I cannot even describe how much I love these bars. They are perfection in a wrapper :) It was my last one-- need to pick up more of these bad boys.

Spin was amazing (55 minutes) but the AIR WAS NOT ON. I wasdying. And the man next to me had a fear of deodorant which didn't make for the most pleasant class. We did the last stage of the Tour de France (a couple of hills and jumps, followed by sprints and running intervals) and I definitely broke a sweat.

When I got home, I had a Laughing Cow cheese wedge while I made dinner: salad with 1/2 cup garbanzo beans, 1/8 cup reduced-fat sundried tomato feta (so good), basil and balsamic vinaigrette (1/2 ts olive oil, 1 ts balsamic vinegar, 1 ts lemon juice, garlic, salt and pepper), asparagus (fresh that I sliced on an angle, blanched and seasoned with salt and pepper) with some shrimp (with garlic, fire-roasted tomatoes and fresh basil).

I loooooove shrimp :D
The hubby isn't here yet, but when he gets home from flying, I'll make his version of the shrimp and asparagus: asparagus baked with garlic, fresh parmsesan and olive oil; shrimp with penne in a white wine sauce, with proscuitto, parmesean, basil and tomatoes. That kid definitely won the genetic jackpot for fastest metabolism! He needs at least3500-4000calories just to maintain his weight and muscles. Tough life, huh?
For dessert: Baked Peach

(pic was taken before being "cooked")
I off to start the Pilot's dinner, make my breakfast cookie for tomorrow and read my book (hopefully it will get more exciting sometime soon!).
Have a wonderful night!!
