Weight Loss Wednesday: Week 6

Posted Feb 08 2012 2:17pm

So here we are in February, and I’m stuck at the -5lbs point, fearing I will never break below 170. I’m sure I’m not the only one who by this point in their new years resolution have hit this plateau. It’s the point where you feel that regardless of your consistent efforts towards the main weight loss and health goal, nothing seems to be making a difference. Ready to break though this plateau I have put together some guidelines or rules I need to follow in order to push past this point and avoid slipping into old (bad) habits.

First Things First, Keep track of what I am eating: I have been using a calorie counter on my phone for this so while I can see what I’m eating I am also able to see how many calories, fat, carbs and protein I am taking in as well. I recommend one that will allow you to scan a bar code to upload what food you are eating, it really helps when you are on the go.

  • Change the work out: The same routine is going to keep giving me the same results. I plan on adding more cardio, switch up my weight routines and upping my intensity!
  • Try new ways to get active: Being active can sometimes be harder then it seems when you are not enjoying the activities you are involved in. Trying something new may just open the door to a new, and fun way to stay active!
  • Switch it up: Switch up the normal diet routine and try some new dishes! This will allow me not to get bored while getting accustom to my new lifestyle as well and hopefully get my body working more! I may even try techniques such as Carb Cycling or cycling my calorie intake to help keep my body guessing.
  • Keep your goals in mind: Don’t lose sight of why you are doing this, literally! Keep physical items or photos or anything that will remind you of your goals visible so you can have that constant reminder as to why you are doing what you are doing!
  • Keep a positive attitude: I know that sometimes when you hit a point like this it is hard to feel like your efforts are presenting results, however they are. You are getting healthier and the results you want to see will eventually come as long as you stick to your guns and go after what you want! Remember that you are not alone.

If you have any tips or tricks on how to get past this point I would love to hear them!
