Weekend Recap: Exercise, Finally; a New Job; and a Few Other Confessions…

At least these ladies are getting some arm action as they work!


Happy Monday, guys! I hope you all had a splendid weekend! And sorry to all who were planning on coming out for our fun run this past weekend—the weather ruined our plans. Hopefully skies will be clear next Saturday—we’ll keep you posted. I am a little sleep-deprived (and hence totally off with my eating right now), but otherwise OK.

OK, onto a few confessions...
1. As of last Monday, I am gainfully employed once again. (It’s been a little bit over a month since I’d been out of a job.) I’m working at a newspaper, covering a local beat.
2. I haven’t had a regular-walk-in-to-the-office-Monday-to-Friday-kind-of-job in almost two years. So I was quite tired this past week.
3. The hours aren’t always regular though. I’m hoping that will be good enough an explanation as to why I had a donut and coffee for dinner last Tuesday night. Horrible, I know! I was covering a night event and had no time for dinner. Ugh. I felt so guilty that I needed to blog about it. My beloved fiancé calls my need to confess to you my eating pitfalls New Age Catholicism, but that’s cool with me. I’m hoping you guys will keep me honest!
4. That little donut ordeal inspired me to pack some healthy snacks to stash at my desk, for times when I’m strapped or just need an afternoon pick me up.
5. I did not go to the gym once in the entire week, which made me feel like I had lost an essential part of myself. Fitness was the focus of my last job, so I was constantly working out, but now, I need to figure out how to fit it in. I’m trying to come up with a new workout schedule, as afternoons are no longer open to me. Evenings are pretty much shot, too. Which leaves me with early mornings. Yikes! I am SO not a morning person, but I NEED to become one, fast.
6. What I have been doing, though, is taking the stairs at work (it’s just three flights, but hey, it’s better than nothing!) and walking home when I get a chance (it’s a 30 minute walk).

I finally made it to the gym on Saturday to take a sculpting class—and it was SO GOOD. I love exercise. Seriously…but in order to get it in regularly at this point, I need to wake up at the crack of dawn. I want it THAT bad though.

How can I become a morning person? If you have any tips, please share! And how was your weekend?

PS-Thanks for all of your heathy cheesecake recipes --I didn't get to test out any out, but I will post about it as soon as I do!
