"I am number one" Usain Bolt yelled into the camera after winning the men's 200m sprint today. We won his second gold medal in Beijing with a time of 19.30 seconds, world record! While watching the race I could not believe how easily he smoked the rest of the competition, this sport is literally child's play to him. All the swaggering and show boating he was displaying before the race made me think he wasn't focused and might lost to Shawn Crawford, but no, he destroyed the competition and celebrated by taking off his shoes and dancing around draped in the Jamaican flag to the crowd's delight. What can we fellow athletes and hard training people learn from this? First off I think it is pretty obvious that sprinting will make you faster, leaner and more explosive. I mean, have you been watching the way these guys move? Secondly, the confidence he possesses certainly gives Usain Bolt and advantage over his competition. He knows he is going to win, he knows he will break the record, his only concern is by how much! If you have put the time into training for your next contest, and you know you are ready, act like it. You don't have to show boat, but you should exude confidence, it will make you even more confident and put fear into the heard of your competitors. Usain Bolt's swagger seems to keep him lose. If you watch the video again, look at Shawn Crawford, he looks like he is about to get in a fight. Being all tight like that will use energy and slow you down. Bolt looked like he was walking into the club ready to party, actually he probably was since he figured he already won. My points are, Usain Bolt is amazing, sprinting is good for athletic training of all types, and act like a winner at contests.
