Three weeks ago, I posted my intentions to start
training for my very first 5K. I have only been running for 3 weeks for a total of 22 miles, but I can tell a difference. I ran 4 miles, the longest consecutive run of my life, this week and I wasn't even dying, heaving, or throwing up at the end.
My runs are quicker than what my training calls for and achieving faster times each week is such a huge motivator. I have read that people get "addicted" to running. I am not there {yet} but I can see how it can happen. Finishing that last 4th mile was amazing for me and I had this overwhelming feeling that I CAN run a 5K...and not die.

As I mentioned earlier, my workouts are a little different than what this training regimen calls for. Tuesday is reserved for kickball at the park, where we are 3-0 and getting better every week. Playoffs, here we come! My runs typically happen on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.
I also started the
100 push-ups challenge and finished my first week today. Steve, from
Run Bulldog Run is responsible for the challenge. He is also a great motivator over at
Daily Mile - seeing his success is a great inspiration.
Brian's boss also contacted me to help her with some swim training. She is currently training for a triathlon, so she is leaps and bounds ahead of me. I am excited to get back into the pool again though. Cross training in the pool a couple of days a week is going to do wonders for my running. I also need to get back into strength training. Strong muscles and a strong core are crucial for running.
As you can see, I have made some progress but I have a ways to go. I also need to work on my other cross training exercises so my body doesn't stall. All in all though, I am very happy with where I am.
