Training Log : Week 1 - Day 5 - Power Walking

Posted Jun 23 2009 6:55pm
Yesterday, when I reached the LRT station, the shuttle bus had either not arrived or left earlier!!

So, I decided to take a brisk walk to the shops. With my old MP3 and upbeat songs, my pace grew quicker & stride wider & my speed increased. Fifteen minutes later, it beginning to rain. So I took a cab home.

Today, the weather was better - unusually windy and cool. So, I decided to do the walk again. Coincidently, according to the SHAPE training guide, I was to Power Walk this morning but I had to be at work early, so no can do.

What is Power Walking (also called Race Walking), I wondered? I checked out this site which gave a step-by-step guide to selecting the right shoe, right posture, arms and walking gait, tip & warning.

Tonight, I finished 40 mins of power walking. Phew! Not wanting to strain my knee further, I took a rest and stretched the hamstrings. Then hailed the cab back. It was still quite a way to go.

MY ANALYSIS
I woke up today, feeling a tightness in my obliques (sides) and found my abs tightening. Felt good. I wondered why. Only today did it occur to me that was probably due to the power walk.

Let's see what happens tomorrow! Ha Ha Ha.. Positive thinking!

Now the next thing I need to do is to get enough sleep... Nite
