Most of you who've read my blog know that about a year ago I joined a great group on Iowa Ave called Tight Ass Tuesday. Since then I've routinely worked out my glutes and legs on Tuesday to help firm and shape my tush into the tush it was 20 years ago! The funny thing is that many of my fitness friends have joined in my regular 4 a.m. conditioning. It's our regular day to improve our view from the "rear view mirror!"
Today we hit the gym at 4. We always warm up with a little cardio and stretching. Today we found 5 empty stair climbers all in a row so we grabbed them a started talking.
One of the best things about Tuesday hasn't been the firming, though that doesn't suck, it's been the fun I've had with my gal-pals. It's normally just us and a few cleaning people in the gym, so we can laugh or sing or yell, whatever we feel we need at the moment.
After 20 minutes of warming up and a little stretching, we went to find 5 bosu balls in the aerobic room to use for our workout. I really enjoy the ball, it gives us a wide va riety of workout options and we just find it's more fun when we're all grouped in a circle. Today out workout consisted of ...
Push Off Plies (3 sets of 12)
Repeating Lifts (alternating sides 3 sets of 12)
Leg Bridges (alternating sides 3 sets of 12)
Lunges (alternating legs 3 sets of 15)
Squats 3 sets of 12)
At this point we were all filling tired and a bit silly, so we hit the track for a brisk one mile walk at 2.5 mph followed by stretching. It was a great Tuesday workout!
Because I've been working on training for the 39 mile Avon walk and my bike race, I have been very serious about recording my workouts and my food logs. (*check out yesterdays log on Fitting It In *) Yesterday, becuase of a crazy day of traveling across state and back, I managed to take my pops and eat a couple of salads. (Thanksfully my pops always keep me from getting ill) Along with a few handfuls of almonds my diet was less then great, so today I felt a little tired and off my usual game.
I did plan my next insanely busy day better so I could pack meals and bring them with me, and make sure I had healthy drinks around instead of just a couple bottles of water.
One of the best things about Tight Ass Tuesday is the day with my gal-pals. (and the ever improving fit of my jeans of course!)
