thumbs and first two fingers on each hand were a little numb

Posted by hblatz

Hi, I swam about 2 miles, 1.5 miles moderately, freestyle, and then .5 miles in a combo of kicking drills (with my arms out front holding a kickboard) and breast stroke.

I read a book for about an hour.  I had spf 50 sunscreen on and the sun was behind clouds.  The temperature was 63 F. and then noticed that my thumbs and first two fingers on each hand were numb.  The most numb were my first fingers.  I did not notice any numbness in my ring-fingers or pinkies.  The numbness became worse for about an hour.  Those fingers appeared pale.  No pains.

I mean to say no pains in my neck, shoulders, arms, or hands.

I carried my gym bag home (10 min walk), did some minor house chores and noticed the numbness increased.

I soaked my hands in warm water for about 2 minutes.  They felt better but remained numb.  I bent over to pack a bag with some items, and find something in the bag.  This took about a minute. My fingers began to feel better from my having bent over (coincidence? was it the warm water?).

Other potentially pertinant facts: I had surgery 15-years ago, in which C5 and C6 in my neck were fused because of an accident.

At any rate, I am concerned.  What could have caused this?
