I want to formally apologize to all single guys ages 16-76, as I am about to break 'guy code' by letting out one of our most sacred secrets on:
'The Weekend Pump'
Every Friday between 5:00pm - 10:00pm all single guys will be in the gym. No question about it. This is the one day of the week that a single guy will never miss his workout. Not because they got off early at their jobs. Not because they don't have work the next day. Not even because they don't have anyone waiting for them to come home. It's because they have to get 'the pump' for the weekend.
'The Pump' is a physiological response (called muscle edema) to exercise and strength training when
blood accumulates in the specific muscle tissue that was used during the workout. This results in temporarily larger and more 'full feeling' muscles which can last up to 24 hours.
Historically speaking, Friday night is a big night for the single guy to strut his stuff around town. He needs to talk the talk and walk the walk as he tries to impress both guys and girls no matter his preference. Acheiving 'the pump' before going out is a strategy
the single guy uses to enhance mind, body, and clothing fit.
This practice is so important that I have even heard of
extreme cases of guys doing a quick set of push ups in the alley next to the bar they were about to go into. The pursuit of the pump reaches all males prior to any beach or pool activity as well.
Females are also influenced by 'the pump', but it is perceived in a more negative way. This puffy and inflated feeling that guys cherish so much, is feared by most females.
Ladies often confuse tighter fitting jeans after a workout with leg muscles that are bulking up, when in fact it is only a temporary thing.
Now that you are inside the circle of trust, you must swear not use your new found knowledge to make fun, call out, embarass, or discredit your single guy friends!
