Posted May 29 2009 11:35pm

Foodcombiningdiet Lots of people are talking about how a food combining diet can help you, but before you start any sort of dietary change, you should figure out how it really works, how it helps you lose weight and whether it really suits you. Take a few moments to learn about food combining diets and what they really do!

What Is a Food Combining Diet?

First, remember that there is no one specific food combining diet. There are several diets that might fall into this category and what they have in common is the fact that they are designed to stimulate your metabolism and to make sure that you burn fat quickly and effectively. There are some rules that are typically followed across the board, and one of the most important ones is that protein, like meats and beans, should not be combined with starches, like bread, rice, and pasta. Fruits should be eaten on their own, and proteins and starches should be paired up with other vegetables.

The Pros of a Food Combining Diet

Believe it or not, there are a few things that are good with a food combining diet.  First, it doesn’t have you cut anything major out of your diet. For instance, you don’t have to give up starches, like with the Atkins diet. You’ll also find that when you really give your all to a food combining diet that you’re going to learn to be much better at planning your own meals; not only will this help you make healthier choices, you’ll also find that it’s something that can help you improve your budgeting as well.

The Cons of a Food Combining Diet

Despite all the good press, there is the issue that there is not a lot of research being done that states that this is something that works.  Also keep in mind that learning to eat in this fashion is something that might negatively impact your traditional meals of spaghetti, stirfry and rice, and meatloaf and potatoes.  Be aware that you’ll need to keep track of your diet and to make sure that you’re getting your proper ratio of protein and vitamins.

There’s a lot to think about when you’re considering getting into a food combining diet or any diet for that matter.  So take some time and see what it can really do for you.  It’s up to you to see whether or not this is something that you should try. If you’re having doubts but would like to try it anyway, it might be time to ask your doctor what he or she thinks. “Is this a diet that is going to work well for you?” and “is there anything that you might need to change in order to get better results?”

Dieting is a personal choice and for the most part a short-term one. What works for one person is not guaranteed to work for another. Take some time and really consider what your options are going to be and if you’re looking for something that will help you shed the pounds and keep it off without compromising your lifestyle, check out this golden resource.
