It should come as no surprise. If you’re trying to lose or maintain a healthy weight, water is the best beverage around. Research from a study of the water-drinking habits of women who were following different diets from Ornish to Atkins found that the more water the women drank, the less weight they lost. Women who either increased their water intake or replaced other drinks with good old H2O lost an extra 2.5 pounds. Even if the drinks they replaced were diet drinks. Researchers suspect that when you’re full of water, you’ll eat less. Of course, these women were already on reduced calorie diets. Still, drinking water means you’ll also stay hydrated, important when you’re working out and helpful in fighting dry skin and hair.
