The Elevator Rule

Posted Jun 04 2009 10:42pm

There are certain elevator rides, I'll take...

And then there are others, I'll pass on...

I do not take the elevator based on who's in there - okay I'm lying!

Everyone knows just how terribly awkward an elevator ride can be...it's hot, silent, no personal space, your eyes have to stay up and forward, and there's always the thought of 'what if this thing gets stuck' in the back of your mind...

but besides all that, it's more about how many floors I'm going that determines if I'm gonna take the elevator or not.

Today I got into an elevator at the same time as a female in her 20's (who was probably in decent shape) on the first floor of a building.

I hit the 9th floor button and she hit the 2nd floor button...this girl took the elevator ONE FLOOR.

What is up with that!?

It pissed me off because it just goes to show how lazy people can be.

Now I want to enforce an elevator rule.

If you are going less than 4 flights you must take the stairs!

Little do you know my condo is 4 stories high...

This is an easy way to sneak in some extra physical activity, burn calories, and work your leg muscles throughout your day.

You are sitting all day - you'll get a lot of benefit by setting your own elevator rule and by trying to take as many sets of stairs as possible.
