It’s a pleasure to be talking to you here on Karina Works It Out! Just like you, I am very proud of Karina, and can’t wait to see her next accomplishment. So, in case she hasn’t warned you--you can expect to hear from me once a week. I’m excited and hope you will be also, as I bring you tips, thoughts and opportunities to experience new things in terms of health and fitness.
Since it is officially Fall, and you can truly feel the change of weather in the air, I thought it would be fitting to give you 5 ways to stay motivated to work out instead of running home to the comfort of your warm couch. (I know Karina needs it!)
1. Make going to the gym a part of your daily/weekly routine
Just like that stop you make on the way into work at Starbucks.
2. Budget in renting a locker at the gym if you can
So you can always leave essential things there, like sneakers, shower shoes, toiletries etc.
3. Get your stuff ready the night before
That way you have no excuse that you were rushing in the morning and didn’t have time.
4. Grab the group fitness schedule from your gym
And put your favorite classes in your calendar, via BlackBerry, iPhone etc. It helps to put a reminder on them as well. That way, going to the gym is just as important as your 2 o’clock meeting or doctor's appointment.
5. Find a gym buddy
Having someone to work out with will keep you motivated. If you don’t have a friend in your 'hood, make one at the gym, or better yet, make yourself accountable by checking in with a good friend who will hold you to your schedule!
All these tips will help you to beat the fall/winter blues. So give them a try and don’t hesitate to tell me what you think!
