Stormy weather

Posted Aug 04 2008 7:14pm

It has been raining like crazy! I kinda love it... especially because it cools down a little bit around here!

When Jeni picked me up today, we went to McAlister's for lunch. We had to run in the pouring rain through the parking lot and were drenched when we got inside. I was freezing and ready for my standard vegetarian chili and sandwich. Tasty.

006  I got turkey, mustard, lettuce and tomato on a cafe roll (whole wheat with sunflower and flax seeds)- didn't eat the crackers, mint or pickle. Pickles kinda creep me out (I just don't like the idea that it used to be a cucumber)

We went to Hobby Lobby (LOVE that store! One point for V-town) and I got a lot of really nice things for the casa. Paintings, baskets, a clock and some decorative items for the top of the wood cabinets. Did you hear that Valdosta was named ESPN Title Town??? With that, and the brief snippet in "Fried Green Tomatoes" (what a great movie) Valdosta is FAMOUS, right?!? Too bad it's boring!! Haha but I am getting better at entertaining myself here :)

After Hobby Lobby (Hizzle Lizzle?), we hit up the commisscaryand I picked up the rest of our groceries for this week. When I got home from our shopping day, I was a little snacky so I made a salad with shrimp, asparagus, a little feta and covered it with hot sauce and balsamic vinegar.

Tonight we had Rachael Ray's Devilish Sesame Chicken in the August issue ofEveryday with Rachael Ray. Actually, I had my version (sans honey, brown rice-- which I do eat, but not at night, and sesame oil) and it came out pretty incredible (the hubby had the "real" version). This meal is one that RR calls "make your own take-out (MYOTO)" -- and it totally tasted like it was straight from an Asian restaurant. Yumm-o.

After dinner, as filling and spicy and scrumptious as it was, I needed something sweet. I mushed up a banana with 1/2 cup plain fat free yogurt and then sprinkled cinnamon and nutmeg on it. It looked like baby food, but it was pretty dang wonderful.

Well, I'm going to take these puppies out!

Have a great night!!!
