Staying on Course While on the Road?

Posted May 28 2009 12:18am

I'm going out of the country for nine days starting on this Sunday and I'm planning on running a five mile race on June 5th. I don't want to lose my current level of physical fitness so my goal is to run at least four times when I'm in Germany (and possibly this Sunday morning before we leave). I know we're going to be doing a lot of walking while we're there but I want to make sure I keep running. I'm thinking if I run this Sunday I'll be less anxious on the plane so I might run again on the 25th (also another flying day). I know our hotels in Munich, Cologne and Frankfurt have fitness centers but I'm pretty sure the hotel in Bamberg doesn't have a fitness center.

Is anyone out there accustomed to keeping on plan while on the road? How do you keep it up when you don't have control over food and your schedule as much as you do in everyday life? I'm really hoping in the land of meat, potatoes and beer that I don't gain any weight while I'm overseas!
