Yeah, you read that right. Thanks to GNC and Fitfluential I will be in California July 13-15 taking in the CrossFit Games ; reporting back to you via blog posts and tweets about all of the awesome feats of athleticism taking place.
As an athlete, CrossFit trainer, affiliate owner and fan of any type of athletic competition I am stoked for this opportunity. Much of my own training is based on the CrossFit methodology combined with sport specific triathlon/endurance and Hybrid training that resembles CrossFit Endurance.
CrossFit, for those who are unfamiliar, is a high intensity and competition based training method that incorporates a variety of functional movements and exercises into a Workout of the Day (WOD). The idea is to continually vary workouts so that you do not specialize in building muscle or losing fat, but continually improve overall fitness.
The CrossFit Games were created to be the world’s premier test to find the fittest athlete on earth. Athletes from around the world compete in open and regional workouts in order to qualify for a spot at the Games. The exact WOD’s are not announced until moments before the competition, requiring athletes to be prepared for just about any fitness challenge.
Be on the lookout for more posts and tweets about the CrossFit Games, and feel free to leave any CrossFit questions in the comments below.
