Restaurant Nutrition Facts? - No Joke!

Posted Apr 01 2009 2:30pm

BXP50039 Hey!

Happy April Fools!

I’ve managed not to get pranked today by any of my clients so hopefully it stays that way.

In other news I was reading a pretty good article the other day, where the article talked about people making healthier food choices if the restaurants provided them with nutritional data of the meal.

Personally I think it’s a great idea.  I’m sure, if the restaurants do end up providing the data that it will help many people who can’t control what they eat or don’t know how much calories they actually eat when at a restaurant.

It’ll also show many people how many calories are in foods that they think is “healthy” and hopefully expand the knowledge of the general public so they understand what 800 calories on plate looks like or what a proper portion really is.

People end up eating out as much as 2-3 times a week (and that’s the minimum).  I’m not saying that’s a bad thing - heck I like to go out to restaurants and be served a nice meal sometimes -  but in this day and age waist-lines are increasing dramatically on a daily basis and if we don’t try to use different tools to lower down the weight-gain stats, we’re gonna see  lot more people suffer from diseases and risks like, type 2 diabetes, coronary heart disease and stroke, cancer, osteoarthritis, gallbladder disease, and fatty liver disease - and trust me that’s no joke!

This is what some Restaruant Facts may look like.

But only time will tell to see if it will be a positive impact - I’d love to hear your thoughts on this as well.

“Would you be more careful in what you chose at a restaurant if you knew the nutritional and caloric data for your meal?
