Trying,
Struggling,
To spread your wings wide
When what you really want is to stay in your cocoon and hide
Hide from the hurt,
Hide from the pain,
Knowing all the while it would only be in vain…
The butterfly knows it cannot hide,
Least not forever, from the world outside
She has a great deal of beauty to share, too much to keep within
So if she lands on your shoulder don’t just brush her aside
Rather try and understand all the fear she holds inside
Fear of people, places, and things you may never know
Just love her for who she is, and help her to grow
