Poll Revealed - Do You Eat Breakfast Daily?

Posted Nov 29 2008 12:26pm
Last Week's Poll Results:

81% Yes, most important meal of the day

12.5% No, too tired and not hungry

6% Maybe, if coffee counts

Poll Revealed:

Okay readers, from the poll you look pretty darn good. I was very happy to see how many of you actually eat breakfast on a daily basis. My experience is that the majority of people actually do not eat anything in the morning, so well done. I'm a little skeptical of you all because we didn't specify WHAT was being had for this meal. As my luck would have it, you are all probably having Pop-Tarts, Red Bulls, Dunkin' Donuts, Lucky Charms, or Pixie Stix in the AM.

Is it the most important meal of the day? Yes, or at least until the next meal - then that is the most important. Remember:you are only as good as your last meal! If we look close enough at the word, the answer to why it is so important is revealed.

'Break' & 'Fast'

When you are sleeping you are also fasting, unless you sleep walk to the fridge. After you awake from a 6-8 hour fast, you better break that fast as soon as possible. You wake up dehydrated and on a seriously empty gas tank. As I mentioned in my food and fire analogy post, this period of time slows your metabolism as the body goes into a conservation mode to protect against any possible threat of starvation (which was more likely during the hunter and gather times or in emergency situations).

Sorry toothpaste is not going to cut it guys, so here are '3first things' to have in the morning:
  1. One large glass of plain water (put on night stand or bathroom)

  2. Piece of fruit or 100% juice (contains water, vitamins, serving of fruit)

  3. Complex carbohydrate (multi-grain or 100% whole wheat toast, English muffin, half of bagel, granola bar, etc.)

What do you do for breakfast on the go?
